Festivus FA50K 2007

We had 11 hearty souls (er soles) for the inaugural Festivus Feet of Strength Fat Ass 50k in Columbus Ohio on December 16, 2007. The weather was a real challenge. Several inches of snow fell the day before, and then we had heavy rain overnight. As a result runners encountered standing water and ice on the course (a paved bike path) that required detours and some unavoidable wet feet. During the run temps fell into the 20s and winds were sustained at 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. Unbelievably, the winds shifted from the southwest to the northwest during the run so that it was in runners’ faces in both directions of the out-and-back course.  Runners were all from Ohio. James Duade, recently relocated to Columbus from Boston, won with a time of 4:28, and Vicki Ashbrook, of Cincinnati, was the top female finisher in her first ultra with a time of 5:28.

We had nine finishers (times are approximate since no official timing):

1 James Duade 4:28
2 Ted Neimann 5:00?
3 Bob Lawson 5:20
4 Greg Trapp 5:28
5 Vicki Ashbrock 5:28
6 Dan Distelhorst 5:30
7 Kathy Wolf 5:54
8 Josh ? 6:25
9 Tom Stone 6:25
